Paul 'Fitzy' Fitzsimons

Paul 'Fitzy' Fitzsimons is the founder of Fitz Boxing.

Fitzy initially competed as an amateur boxer and then turned professional. His commitment, dedication and perseverance to his craft saw him achieve world rankings in his respective weight divisions, along with becoming New Zealand and Australasian champion.

Fitzy was recognised for his ability to turn defense into attack, with devastating punching power that is still evident today. In fact,  there are many boxers walking around today that were told by their trainers to never fight Fitzy as he had the 'total package' - back then Fitzy could box and work his defense as well as stand there and go toe-to-toe, displaying powerful punching that could knock out an opponent with either hand.

When you visit the Pro-Fitness gym in Moorhouse Avenue you will often hear the thumping sound of someone banging a heavy bag or wall bag - this is usually Fitzy demonstrating a routine to a client!

When Fitzy finished competing he wanted to give something back to the sport by passing on his wealth of knowledge. Initially he started coaching through Salvation Army programs, teaching kids of all ages and always on the lookout for that special kid who could one day become world champion.

Fitzy now passes on his knowledge through the range of programs offered through Fitz Boxing.
